Modelling agglomeration degree in sucrose crystallisation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A model to simulate the time evolution of the distribution of agglomeration degree of sucrose crystals is deduced and validated against experimental data obtained through an image analysis technique. The crystallisation laboratory facility, procedures and the resulting experimental data are described. The model employed includes nucleation, growth, growth rate dispersion and agglomeration kinetics. The experimental data consists of on-line temperature and sugar content profiles in addition to off-line image analysis measurements of crystal size and agglomeration degree. Good agreement is obtained between the experimental and simulated results. This new model represents a most relevant tool for acquiring new knowledge of crystallisation/agglomeration mechanisms. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 81.10.Aj; 81.10.−h

A New Crystal Engineering Technique for Dissolution Enhancement of Poorly Soluble Drugs Combining Quasi-emulsion and Crystallo-co Agglomeration Methods
A target of best dissolution improvement of poorly soluble drugs is a necessity for the success of formulation in industry. The present work describes the preparation, optimization, and evaluation of a new spherical agglomeration technique for glimepiride as a model of poorly soluble drugs. It involved the emulsification of a drug solution containing a dispersed carrier that tailors the crystal...

Cholesterol gallstones occur when at least three simultaneous defects are present: (i) cholesterol supersaturation of bile with formation of cholesterol-rich unstable vesicles; (ii) accelerated crystallisation of cholesterol in bile owing to a defect of crystallisation inhibiting or an abundance of crystallisation promoting factors; and (iii) prolonged bile stasis due to decreased gall bladder ...

متن کاملAGGLOMERATION ASSESMENT OF NANO-SIZED ALUMINA POWDERS
Abstract: Nanoparticles exhibit a high reactivity and strong tendency towards agglomeration. In this study, aluminum oxide (alumina) nanoparticles were characterized by gas adsorption (BET), transmition electron microscopy (TEM) and photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) techniques to assess the agglomeration of the particles. There is a good correlation between the BET and TEM measurements b...
